Website/Google Classroom
For important information such as vocabulary, student portfolio examples, past and present artwork, please look at the visual arts website www.lansingcatholicvisualarts.weebly.com. It is mandatory that you keep up with the classroom and check on a daily basis to see project expectations, find the day to day information needed to complete the project at hand, and what’s coming up in the future.
Quizzes
There might be pop quizzes depending on if the thematic at hand is being learnt. Most quizzes will be worth 10 points. They are not used to intimidate the students but to help with checking their understanding of the thematic and materials used.
Tests
There are no tests but after each project we will have a museum study/critique where each student will showcase their artwork and have an intellectual discussion showing their understanding about the thematic and their individual creative process. . At the end of semester there is also a portfolio presentation. Each student will create a unique individualized digital portfolio where they will present at the end of the semester a culmination of everything they learned throughout the semester.
Cheating
Cheating will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for a grade on the assignment. Cheating is plagiarizing or copying another's art as your own. It is ok to steal and be inspired but need to cite the source and artist to pay tribute to.
Tardy/Absent Students
Students are considered tardy if they are not in the classroom when the bell rings. Students who have been absent should check google classroom and my website for projects that were missed. It is the student’s responsibility to check google classroom and get information from a classmate about projects missed. Students have as many days as they were absent to make up any work that was missed. Tests, homework, or assignments missed, because of unexcused absences or suspension, may not be made up. (These are school wide policies.))
Extra Help
If a student is struggling with a concept, project ideas, needing an extension, or discussion about a grade, I expect the student to ask questions in class or ask for additional help if he/she feels it is necessary. I am available Thursday mornings (late start) at 8 am., during lunch time, and for 15 minutes after school. It is the student’s responsibility to ask and show up for help.
